LAVA
Lava is a hamlet in Darjeeling district in the northern part of West Bengal, India. Situated at an altitude of 7200 feet (3500 meters) above sea level. Lava is basically a bit crowded that any other destinations in that zone. There are long stretches of numerous Pine trees all over Lava. Lava monastery is one greatest attractions of Lava. From the view of this monastery, on a very clear day, one can have a clear view of Rachela Pass, which is the highest point of Neora Valley National Park and along with Jelepla Pass. Lava is one of the entry points to Neora Valley National Park. But before entering the National Park, one can see around in the forest museum. In this there are many remains of the wildlife of National Park are preserved. Lava is surrounded by numerous Pine, Fir and Dhupi trees all over, which adds an extra beauty to this small hill station. From Lava one can reach to Zero Point of Neora Valley National Park by hired jeeps, one cal also visit to Ghanti Dara via Sara Biang Tea estate. The trek route to Rachela Park also starts from Lava. From Lava one can avail the nearby locations like Kolakham, Rishyap, Lolegaon, Changey Falls, Neora Valley National Park. The route to Lava is scenic with the change in vegetation from tropical deciduous to the wet alpine trees of fir, pine and birch. The verdant forests are a popular spot for picnicking, trekking and bird-watching. Lava has gradually become a favorite tourist destination. Notable sites include Changey Waterfalls and Lava Jamgyong Kongtrul Monastery.

How to Reach: The nearest railway station is New Mal Junction; From New Mal Jnc at about 52 kilometer is Lava. Another route is from New Jalpaiguri station via Kalimpong which is about 56 kilometer. One can book a cab from New Jalpaiguri Railway Station which will preferably go through Gorubathan, Damdim
