Munsong or Monsong is a small Himalayan village of Kalimpong II CD Block in the Kalimpong subdivision of Kalimpong district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Munsong is situated near the bordering area between West Bengal and Sikkim. Munsong is mainly divided into two parts namely Upper Munsong and Lower Munsong. Lower Munsong is nestled at an altitude of 5000 feet while Upper Munsong is nestled at an altitude of 5600 feet. The area of Mungsong is characterized by rising mountains covered with lush greenery all around. Geographically Munsong forms a part of Kalimpong range and offers the longest view of River Teesta along with wide panoramic view of Mt. Kanchenjunga and other peaks in a same frame. The village of Munsong is mostly inhabited by Nepali tribal people of Rai, Tamang, Sherpa, Bhutia and like communities, those are mostly into agriculture to earn their livelihood. But with the development of tourism at Munsong many villagers started to rent their houses as homestays in order to cater tourists with staying options. Munsong is also known for its abundance of Cinchona plantation all over which was started in 1900. Munsong is also known for the view of Pakyong Airport, Zuluk and Nathula Range of Sikkim. How to reach:

By Air: Bagdogra Airport is the nearest airport to Munsong located at a distance of 95 km away. Bagdogra Airport is well connected by regular flight services with Kolkata, Guwahati, Delhi, Bangalore and others. From Bagdogra Airport tourists will get vehicles on reserved to reach Munsong. Or tourists can also opt to reach Kalimpong by shared vehicles and from there by another vehicle Munsong can be reached.

By Train: New Mal Junction is nearest rail head to Munsong located at a distance of 83.2 km away via NH 717A. The second nearest and most availed rail head to Munsong is New Jalpaiguri railway station located at a distance of 88 km away via NH 10. Both from New Mal Junction and NJP railway station as well tourists will get reserved and shared vehicles to reach Munsong. By reserved vehicles tourists can directly reach Munsong and by shared vehicles one can reach upto Kalimpong and from there by another vehicles one can reach Munsong.

By Road: Munsong is well connected by good motor-able roads with Siliguri (83.4 km), NJP (88 km), New Mal Junction (83.2 km), Kalimpong (18 km) and Darjeeling (70 km). Munsong can also be reach from Gangtok located at a distance of 54 km away. From all these places tourists will get both reserved and hired vehicles to reach Munsong. Munsong can also be reached from Pakyong Airport of Sikkim located around 40 km away via Rangpo. From Kalimpong it takes about 1.5 hours to reach Munsong.

Munsong can be visited throughout the year, but it is advisable to avoid the monsoon as the road becomes dull and slippery. Apart from that summers and winters are the best time to visit Munsong.
