Magurmari is a Village in Dhupguri Block in Jalpaiguri District of West Bengal State, India. It belongs to Jalpaiguri Division. The locals of the village are mainly of the Oraon tribes. Magurmari is nearest to the forest of Baikunthapur Kathambari. At the western part of Dooars, Maguramari is full of greenness from all sides along with agricultural lands, narrow jungle routes, numerous birds and old tribal people. Magurmari has a total population of 504 peoples. There are about 124 houses in Magurmari village. Dhupguri is nearest town to Magurmari which is approximately 2 km away. The daily lives of these people are attached with the village. Small mud huts and the roofs are made of tin and near the huts there is a small road that leads to the forest. These people are mainly uses woods and bamboos in their houses. These villagers worship the Mother Nature in the monsoon, at this time of the year they add colours to their life. Magurmari looks awesome and different in the early morning, which is the ideal time for bird watching. On can reach to the nearest forest through the village roads. From Magurmari at a distance of about 8 km is Gajoldoba. One can also visit to the nearest Baikunthapur forest, where elephants are numerous. With the help state tourism very recently a concept of eco tourism has developed at Magurmari. The concept and their dream project have grown up by the help of Eco Travelers Welfare Society. A concept of homestay has developed at Magurmari. Magurmari Eco Travellers Welfare Society has been established to promote tourism and travel and to acquire, establish, start, aid, run, maintain or manage to build suitable accommodation and or homestay in the region and run the facilities for sustainable development and promote responsible tourism. At the mid section of the agricultural lands, there are few cottages and a community hall has built up. The local people used to perform local dance and the sounds of their musical instruments are heard from every sphere and from a far distance of the village. The local people are of very warm welcoming nature and their sense of hospitality is outstanding. One will get the natural fresh air all over. The visitors of Magurmari will discover themselves within the traditional culture. The people of Magurmari society are involved in the service for the tourists. These local villagers will add an extra energy in the tour. The local foods of the village are worth tasting. The vegetables are mainly organic in nature.

How to Reach: From NJP railway station by road, Magurmari is about 43 km. The nearest rail station from Magurmari is Odlabari, distance is about 11 km. From Bagdogra Airport via Gajoldoba, Magurmari is about 56 km. One can also reach Magurmari from Jalpaiguri railway station. Magurmari-ii (2 KM) , Guabarnagar (14 KM) , Churabhandar (14 KM) , Birpara-ii (15 KM) are the nearby Villages to Magurmari-i. Magurmari-i is surrounded by Maynaguri Block towards west, Falakata Block towards East, Mekliganj. Mainaguri, Mathabhanga, Mal, Alipurduar are the nearby Cities to Magurmari-i.

MAGURMARI HOMESTAY

Magurmari Homestay was established by the Magurmari Eco Travelers Welfare Society to promote tourism, culture among the people who visits the place. They have establish, acquire, run, build suitable accommodation in the form of homestays for the tourists. The cottages are build within the green cultivated lands for the betterment of the local people both economically and culturally. The locals used to entertain their guests with the local tribal dance and campfire. The cottages are build with wood and tin roofs, the base of made of concrete. All the cottages have attached western type toilets and arrangements of foods are available. Rooms are divided into both AC and Non AC. There is a big community hall build for the tourists with attached bathrooms.

Room Tariff: Non AC rooms with attached bathrooms @ 1500/- per day per room.  AC rooms with attached bathrooms @ 1800/- per day per room. Community Hall – Non AC – attached bathrooms @ 1500/- (for 6 hours – for 80 PAX), @ 2000/- (for 12 hours – for 80 PAX) and @ 3000/- (for 24 hours – for 80 PAX).
