Bangriposi is a small tribal village in the Mayurbhanj district in the Indian state of Odisha. Bangriposi is nestled at the foothills of Thakurani Hills and the name Bangriposi is derived from an Oriya word meaning “Daughter of the Hills”. River Buribalam has a great place in the history of Indian Struggle for Freedom, as freedom fighter Jatindra Mukhopadhyay (also known as Baghajatin) along with five other freedom fighters fought near the banks of River Buribalam.   • Barehipani Waterfall: Barehipani Waterfall is a two-tiered waterfall at a distance of 29.5 km from Bangriposi. Barehipani Waterfall is located in Simlipal National Park and is one of the highest waterfalls in India. Barehipani Waterfall is coming down from a height of 400 meter.
  • Joranda Waterfall: Joranda Waterfall is another waterfall in the core area of Simlipal National Park located at a distance of 27.8 km from Bangriposi. Joranda Waterfall is coming down from a height of 150 meter (490 feet) over a lofty cliff.
  • Lulung: Lulung is known as the entrance to Simlipal National Park located at distance of 48 km away from Bangriposi. Lulung lies on the banks of Palpala River and is known as a popular picnic spot and is home to many endangered and epidemic species of flora and fauna.
  • Chahala: Chahala is a village of Mayurbhanj district located at a distance of 32 km from Bangriposi. Chahala is mainly a bird watching sight, but apart from that wildlife are also sighted here.

  • Asurghati Waterfall: Asurghati waterfall is small waterfall with many beautiful sights in and around to enjoy. Asurghati Waterfall is located at a distance of 65 km away from Bangriposi. Asurghati Waterfall is one of the best waterfalls in Mayurbhanj district.
  • Alkudar Waterfall: Alkudar Waterfall is a hidden gem of Mayurbhanj district located around 74 km away from Bangriposi. Alkudar Waterfall is situated at the buffer zone of Simlipal Tiger Reserve and the surrounding area is very serene.

  • Belgadia Palace: Belgadia Palace is an 18th century Victorian – Era styled palace located between Simlipal and Baripada forest reserve. Belgadia Palace is located at a distance of 33 km away from Bangriposi.

How to reach:

By Air: Biju Patnaik International Airport at Bhubaneshwar is the nearest airport to Bangriposi located at a distance of 290 km away via NH16. From Bhubaneshwar Airport by hired vehicle tourists can reach at Bangriposi.

By Train: The main nearest rail head to Bangriposi is Balasore located at a distance of 93.5 km via NH18. From Balasore Railway Station tourists can avail DEMU Passenger Train from Balasore at 10.05 am to reach Bangriposi. Or tourists can also opt to hire private vehicle from Balasore to reach Bangriposi.

By Road: Bangriposi is well connected by good road network services with Kolkata and other major cities of Odisha. From Kolkata direct bus services are available upto Baripada and from there by any other hired vehicle tourists can reach Bangriposi. Bangriposi is located at a distance of 36 km via NH18. Tourists coming to Bangriposi by private vehicles can avail the route of NH6 to reach Bangriposi directly. It will take about 5.5 hours. Bangriposi can be visited throughout the year, but the best time to visit Bangriposi is from October to June.
