Mahaldiram is an upcoming offbit tourist destination located in the hilly terrains of North Bengal. Mahaldiram mainly comprises of numerous flowers, endless natural wonders, and silent ambience. Mahaldiram is far away from the madding crowd and the hustle and bustle city life. One can easily spend one or two days on the lap of Mother Nature at Mahaldiram. The route to Mahaldiram is full of dense greenness on all both the sides of the road. Mahaldiram lies on a hill top with numerous tea gardens on all sides. The word Mahaldiram is derived from Lepcha word. In the past Mahaldi falls comes down from a hill with excessive currents. In the year 1907 a book was published named Darjeeling Gazetier where L.S.L O Malir has written about the place. On that he mentioned the spot as “The fountain head or the Source of Mahaldi”. A name given to the ridge near Kurseong that rises below it. In the plains ‘Mahaldi’ is better known as ‘Mahanadi’ on the later days ‘Mahananda River’. From the pages of History it says that the ancient Old Military road of Darjeeling District has ended at Mahaldiram. In the past there were many European styled bungalows at Mahaldiram. But now all are demolished. Just near to Mahaldiram Tea Estate Jangpana and to the upward side are Mahanadi Kurseong, Gidda and Bagora. The main attraction of Mahaldiram is its untouched beauty. The main sources of livelihood of the locals are tea plantations, step cultivation and recently tourism has added an extra source of income for the locals. The locals at Mahaldiram mainly grow ginger, ailaichhi, and cinchona. From Mahaldiram on a day tour one can visit the nearest local watchable spots like Namthing Pokhri, Mungpoo, Bagora, Chatakpur, Dilaram and Tiger Hill. One can also avail a short walk around the village and get to know about the life of the local villagers. On a clear day Mahaldiram offers excellent view of the Terai and Dooars region.

How to reach:  The nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri. From Kolkata, Howrah and Sealdah several trains are available those reaches upto New Jalpaiguri railway station. The nearest airport is Bagdogra. From Siliguri or NJP railway station at a distance of about 70 km is Mahaldiram. From Kurseong at a distance of about 22 km, from Shivkhola at a distance of about 12 km, from Latpanchar at a distance of about 12 km and from Sittong at a distance of about 7 km is Mahaldiram.

Child below 6 years are complimentary.
Child above 6 years upto 10 years will be charges 50% i.e. @ 800/- per child per day.
Above 10 years will be charged full.
