LUNGSEL
Lungsel is a small offbeat tourist destination situated within Kalimpong district and located around 90 km away from Jalpaiguri and 85 km away from Siliguri. The route to Lungsel passes through Odlabari from New Jalpaiguri Railway station which is the nearest rail head. From NJP railway station around 42 km away lays Odlabari and from there around 23 km more via Parhorjhora Tea Estate is Lungsel located. The altitude of Lungsel village varies between 3500 to 4000 ft which is a very nominal altitude that suits all kinds of travel enthusiasts. Lungsel is an ideal destination for those who love to stay within the lap of nature with absolute silence all over along with a taste of adventure and are also keen to get a view of the picturesque landscapes surrounding all over. On a clear sunny day Lungsel offers stunning views of the snowcapped Himalayan ranges of mighty Mt. Kanchenjunga. Tourists visiting Lungsel village are advised to wake up early in the morning and get sink in the serene natural landscapes and the chirping sounds of numerous Himalayan birds those inhabit the region. The route to Lungsel village starts from Siliguri/ Jalpaiguri and passes through Odlabari and Parhorjhora Tea Estate. From Parhorjhora Tea Estate around 12 km away by the uphill route one will reach at Lungsel. A drive from Odlabari that passes through known tea estates like Manabari and Parhorjhora will reach at Lungsel, but the last few kilometers the route is bumpy and steep. Around Lungsel village there are few organic gardens and agricultural fields those produces garden fresh organic vegetables, as the main source of livelihood of the locals are mainly agriculture and farming. From Lungsel enthusiasts can opt for a short trek to the nearby Noam Forest which is about 01 km away. While trekking through this route tourists will be greeted by the numerous species of Himalayan birds to name but a few are Scarlet Minivet, Sultan Tit, Himalayan Bulbul, Great Barbet and others. Most of the houses of the locals of Lungsel village have their own livestock farm and are also engaged in huge Cardamom cultivation. From Lungsel around 03 km is Jhandidara popularly known as a sunrise view point.
Nearby places of visit: From Lungsel in a day tour tourists can get around and Lava, Lolegaon, Kolakham, Changey Falls, Samabong Tea Estate, Gorubathan, Daragaon and Kalimpong.

Village Trail: Tourists can opt for a village around Lungsel village. As this is an eco-village hence tourists can spot numerous organic vegetable gardens along with small local houses with beautiful courtyard where numerous species of seasonal flowers are blooming.
River Side Camping and Picnic: From Lungsel tourists can opt to visit the nearby riverside and organize camping and picnic.
Jhandidara and Nokdara Visit: From Lungsel Village tourists can easily visit Jhandi Dara and Nokdara in a single day tour and enjoy the scenic natural beauty.
How to reach:
By Air: Bagdogra Airport is the nearest airport to Lungsel which is located at a distance of about 47 km away. From Bagdogra Airport tourists will get both hired and reserved vehicles to reach upto Lungsel.
By Rail: New Mal Junction is the nearest rail head to Lungsel Village which is located at a distance of about 50 km. The second nearest railhead to Lungsel village is New Jalpaiguri which is located at a distance of about 85 km away. From both New Mal Junction and New Jalpaiguri railway station tourists will get both hired and reserved vehicles upto Lungsel village.
By Road: Siliguri is well connected with Kolkata and other major cities of India by road networks. Siliguri is the nearest bus terminus to Lungsel. From Siliguri tourists will get hired or reserved cars to reach upto Lungsel village.
Best time to visit: Lungsel village is best visited from September to May. Though winter are cold, but due to clear climate the visibility of the surrounding landscapes becomes more prominent. Monsoon season should be avoided. While summers are very comfortable and the climate remains very soothing.
SANJEEVANI HOMESTAY
Sanjeevani Homestay maintain by Mt. Sanjeev Chettri is the only accommodation available at Lungsel Eco Village near Kalimpong. Sanjeevani Homestay has two Bamboo Cottages which are raised on wooden platforms. Another three rooms are also there on the other side which are made of concrete. The two Bamboo Cottages of Sanjeevani Homestay are situated on the upper floor while on the ground floor there is the dinning place along with the kitchen. The Bamboo Cottages have a small private balcony that offers stunning views of the Noam Forest Mountain range. Apart from these there is another common balcony attached with both the rooms. These two Bamboo Cottages are beautifully decorated with glass panels and hence offering amazing view. These two Bamboo Cottages are furnished with wooden floors. From the compound of Sanjeevani Homestay a staircase goes downward and reaches at the organic garden of the homestay where one will get to see garden fresh organic vegetables. All the rooms along with the two cottages of Sanjeevani Homestay are well equipped with western style bathrooms and the top of the homestay is covered with tin shed roofs.
