In the year 1929, Mahatma Gandhi visited this place, the amazing beauty of the Himalayan range has made him spell bound. From then onwards whenever anyone visits Kausani, every-time Kausani offers something new to its visitors. In the state of Uttarakhand Kausani offers a magnificent view of the North Himalayan range. In a clear day at a height of about 1980 meters high Kausani also offers a magnificient of many of the others Himalayan range. Some of which are Kamet, Elephant Hill, Nanda Ghanti, Trishull, Nanda Devi, Nandakot, Rajrambha and Panchachuli. At Kausani which mostly attracts the tourist every year after Himalayan Range is an Ashram built in the memory of Mahatma Gandhi. The prayer hall of the Ashram has many has many historic scripts, letters written by Gandhiji himself and one big oil painting of Mahatma Gandhi himself. One can have a clear view of the Himalayan range from Ashram premises. Among many of the tourist around kausani, some of which attracts the tourist most is “Kasturba Ashram” built in the momory of the hindu poet “Sumitrananda”. An eco-park and in a bit distance is a temple of Lord Shiva. The tea gardens in Kausani are worth watching. On the way to bajinath from Kausani at Pingalkot Village on the hilly slopes the tea gardens is placed.

Kausani is a small Hill town in the Bageshwar District of the northern Indian state of Uttarkhand. Kausani, is a picturesque hill station famous for its scenic splendor and its spectacular view of the Himalayas. Flanked by the rivers Kosi and Gomti, this small town sits atop the Pingnath Peak. The town is very peaceful and one can enjoy the beautiful view of the Himalayas from almost any part of the Town. The temperature is pleasant in the summer months and extremely cold in the winter seasons. One can do trekking in the various surroundings around Kausani. The panoramic view of the Nanda Devi Biosphere from a distance of 300 kms away is simply breathtaking. The main activities of the villagers are Cultivation and Tourism holds a special place in the entire town’s economy. The locals are very polite and helpful. Kausani is a destination for Himalayan tourists. It is located 120 Km from Nainital, 53 km North of Almora. This place offers a 350 km view of the Himalayan peaks like Trishul, Nanda Devi and Panchchuli. There are several ways to reach Kausani, One can go directly by road from Delhi to Kausani. If travelling by Train, you will have to get off at Kathgodam Station and hire a Tourist Taxi to take you to Kausani. Kathgodam station is connected to major cities of India. It takes around 5 hours by car from Kathgodam to Kausani along the beautiful roads and scenary of Uttarkhand. Raniket Express from Old Delhi station reaches Katgodam at 6.30 a.m and you can reach Kausani by 12.00. The road condition is pretty good, but it is advisable to avoid the monsoon season.
